Associate Analyst - Credit Risk
The successful candidate will work in the Credit Risk Management group reporting to the Manager – Credit Risk Management. The Credit Risk Associate Analyst will be involved in daily credit activities, special projects as required and communication with counterparties and internal legal and commercial groups. The Credit Risk Associate Analyst must communicate effectively in a cross-functional environment on matters relating to credit risk.
- Analyze financial statements using credit scoring model and perform credit evaluations in order to determine appropriate credit limits
- Analyze entity structure to assess both individual counterparty and enterprise credit risk; Obtain and negotiate parent company guaranties as appropriate
- Negotiate the credit terms included in the NAESB and other commercial agreements
- Determine whether collateral is necessary to reduce credit risk and negotiate collateral appropriate to the risk
- Maintain approved credit limits in credit risk management system
- Monitor supporting documentation to keep current, such as guaranties and letters of credit, to reduce ongoing counterparty risk
- Maintain credit system database with counterparty names, guaranties, letters of credit and credit ratings
- Assist CRM team with the management of external counterparty and internal business relationships
- Provide information for miscellaneous reports on an ad hoc basis
- Perform any other tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 0-2 years’ experience
- Experience in commercial credit management with financial statement analysis required. Energy experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity and experience with credit reporting agencies
- Experience with credit scoring and risk management systems, models, and metrics
- Strong Excel and Word skills
- Strong verbal and written skills necessary
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to think proactively, multi-task, and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency
