Specialist - Materials Mgmt
Summary:
The Specialist Materials Management position is responsible for working with internal and external clients to identify the material needs, reference various standards and specifications for the materials, and develop material catalog items and requisitions, consistent with our standard catalog requirements for input into our SAP system. The position also provides backup support for Materials Management and Warehouse Management as needed, including, but not limited to, running reports, posting inventory transactions, assist with miscellaneous Materials Management projects as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives, reviews, and evaluates material requests for accuracy
- Consults with Engineers, Project Managers, other project staff, or outside source for material specifications and standards
- Create material catalog number and delivery addresses
- Create (STO’s) also known as requisitions in SAP Fiori for capital expansion, capital maintenance, and operations maintenance projects (WBS numbers, Cost Center codes and for Butane Blending orders)
- Update DL Remedy site request tracking system and communicate with the Requestor and the Buyer with the proper documentation, STO number and the status of the STO created.
- Communicate with the Requestor, Buyer, Cost Analyst and Accounting personnel when budget has been exceeded or other errors may arise
- Identify and resolve problems as needed
- Assist employees on any STO or SAP Fiori questions or concerns
- Prepares reports as requested
- Update and maintain all STO change requests
- Searches for close match surplus inventory materials as time allows
- Provides enterprise wide SAP system support for the materials management catalog
- Processes daily requests for new item requests, analyzes data submitted, uses technical expertise and judgment to confirm, edit, and approve new item requests
- Maintains visibility to market changes that may affect current catalog content
- Interface with Q/A to confirm industry standards are accurately reflected in the catalog content
Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Associate Specialist level requires 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience
- The Specialist level requires 2-5 years of relevant job-related experience
- The Senior Specialist level requires 5-8 years of relevant job-related experience
- The Lead Specialist level requires 8+ years of relevant job-related experience
Essential Requirements
- 2 or more years of related experience
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Sense of urgency
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of energy industry related materials, specifically natural gas, NGL and/or crude system
- Strong analytical reasoning/ research skills and the ability to make recommendations and take action based on data
Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
1. Usually, normal office working conditions.
2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
4. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
