Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work in the Butane Blending Business Development group reporting to the Director of Butane Blending BD.  The Senior Specialist will be responsible for coordinating existing business partner relationships with a focus on optimizing existing site activity, maintaining and updating the business’s dynamic demand forecast model, coordinating the business’s butane blending opportunity program, building financial models to support new site growth, providing information for internal use in the development of forecasts, budgets, project plans and management power point presentations and other ad-hoc business opportunity related activities.    

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  1. Coordinating existing business partner relationships.  These responsibilities include:
    • Acting as the primary business partner contact with a focus on open communication lines. 
    • Working through client issues by overseeing internal processes and ensuring other parts of the organization, (such as Operations, Accounting, Engineering, etc.) are meeting client expectations. 
    • Focusing on optimizing existent site activity and identifying new blending site opportunities. 
  2. Maintain the business’s dynamic demand forecast model.  
    • Responsible for model which forecasts expected butane blended volumes by site utilizing projected terminal throughput and historical blend percentages.  This model is integral for supply and hedge quantity forecasting during the budget cycle and for the business partner butane quantity nomination process.  
    • Periodically obtain re-forecasted business partner terminal throughput to project changes to seasonal butane demand.      
  3. Coordinate the butane blending opportunity program.  This program is used to determine the quantity of butane a prospective site is expected to blend based off of weekly gasoline samples.  This program is key to developing expected blended volumes used in financial models to substantiate new site development.   
  4. Build financial models to support new site growth.  
    • Populate expected terminal throughput, forecasted supply and logistics costs, forecasted butane to gasoline spreads, expected capital costs, expected blend rates and profit share arrangements from business partner contracts into site economic models to determine expected financial rate of return.  
    • Enhance/ develop model as necessary.  
    • Provide necessary sensitivity analysis to critical project success parameters mentioned above.  Model is used as primary determining factor in decision to build a new site.    
  5. Providing information for internal use in the development of forecasts, budgets, project plans and management power point presentations.
  6. Function as critical technical/business resource for the business unit.  
    • Develop/share knowledge on fuel blending mechanics, gasoline volatility parameter impacts, gasoline octane, pressuring agent qualities and values, predictive blending algorithms and the associated economics with each.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  1. 5 - 8 years of experience.
  2. College degree or additional equivalent experience. MBA preferred. 
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong attention to details. 
  6. Ability to think pro-actively, multi-task and work with minimal supervision. 
  7. Ability to work independently and on teams. 
  8. Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency. 
  9. Ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
  10. Strong Excel and Word skills.

  1. Usually, normal office working conditions.
  2. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
