Financial Reporting Manager

Summary:  The Manager position is responsible for the financial reporting to the FERC for twelve common carrier companies.  The position requires active involvement in the preparation and review of the annual FERC Form 6 and the quarterly FERC Form 6Q.  The position requires an in depth knowledge of FERC accounting requirements as it relates to common carriers and an understanding of FERC to GAAP accounting differences.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Lead staff in the preparation and filing of FERC Form 6 (annual) and Form 6Q (quarterly) for the partnership entities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support the reporting process and ensure compliance with the FERC’s guidance.
  • Prepare financial disclosures to support FERC filings.
  • Maintain process and control documentation associated with the partnership’s FERC reporting processes.
  • Research and document accounting issues regarding new guidance.
  • Serve as the department’s liaison on FERC common carrier audits.
  • Transition the FERC reporting software to XBRL.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests and special projects as required.

 

Requirements:  Education and/or experience, knowledge, skills & abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of FERC reporting and accounting requirements and FERC to GAAP accounting differences
  • Ability to conduct technical research and effectively document accounting positions and processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • MS Excel and Word proficient

 

Preferred qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • SAP software experience
  • XBRL experience a plus

 

Working Conditions:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

1. Usually, normal office working conditions.

2. Must be able to remain in a statoinary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

4. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
