Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 120,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As an operations engineer, this position will primarily support the NGL/LPG Refrigeration, storage and export facilities as well as associated infrastructure at the Nederland Export Terminal.
  • Work with terminal Operations personnel (daily) and Engineering group members to analyze and improve existing processes in order to maximize productivity, reduce costs and comply with regulations and engineering standards.
  • Implement entire project life cycle for small to mid-size field generated plant improvement projects as well as small to mid-sized capital growth projects including scope development, design, material procurement, construction, commissioning, and project completion.
  • Maintain and effective working relationship with Operations personnel, project managers, outside contractors, and vendors.
  • Work closely with Project Directors/Managers responsible for large scale plant projects in support of project and operation’s needs.
  • Work with Business Development/Commercial in the development of projects and estimates.
  • Take part in PSM activities for area facilities. (Help maintain facility drawings, resolve PHA action items, etc.)
  • Maintain facility process simulations and work with other process engineers to develop process solutions while following: engineering standards, code compliance, proper company and safety standards, and good engineering practices.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen process engineering and project management knowledge base and proficiencies.

 

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplineand 6-10 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Staff Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant job related experience
  • The Principal  Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job related experience with a strong preference for a PE license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering supporting small-mid sized process system based Capex projects including 6-10 years of related engineering experience for a senior engineer level or 10+ years of related engineering experience for a staff engineer level 
  •  Strong verbal and written communications skills 
  •  Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suites applications
  •  Proficiency utilizing Engineering Simulation Programs (ProMax, Hysys, etc.)
  •  Experience with NGL/LPG export facilities

 

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Normal office working conditions and field work
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
