The Planning Specialist position is responsible for managing the overall planning and scheduling activities on the assigned work centers. Develop production schedules for multiple production units across multiple production lines, in accordance with customer demand, production capacity, material availability and new business opportunities. Maintain relevant data in the SAP ERP system. Monitor production workflow and react to deviations from the production schedule, to minimize impact on product deliveries.

  • Create weekly master production schedule for finished goods and key sub-assemblies, based on customer demand/forecast and production capacity. Provide and maintain detailed production schedules to all individual work centers. Ensure that known risks are considered in the master production schedule commitments, protecting the company from over-commitments. 
  • Develop effective scheduling process to achieve production objectives in SAP. Decide production strategy (make-to-stock, make-to-order) for end products and key sub-assemblies, based on volume, order frequency, lead times and other relevant criteria. Maintain and report KPI’s on scheduling accuracy and production/delivery performance.
  • Communicate and coordinate master production schedule with production supervisors, Purchasing and Project managers.  
  • Monitor workflow and production schedule to ensure on time delivery. Prioritize and reschedule if necessary. Provide quick and effective response to production issues, schedule deviations or demand changes. 
  • Effective communication to Project Managers and Sales team to determine demand forecasts, and to respond to ‘drop-in’ orders and short-term demand changes while minimizing impact on overall production output and efficiency.
  • Provide weekly and monthly production output forecasts.
  • Support production related decisions by providing clear planning scenarios and analyses. 
  • Support continuous improvement of relevant business processes by identifying scheduling or delivery related issues and proposing/implementing solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in production planning/scheduling related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge in ERP system required, experience with SAP strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and to work independently with little day-to-day direction.
