Director - Component Trading and Blending

Summary:
Join a collaborative and innovative team of entrepreneurial individuals transacting in both physical and financial markets with a common goal to supply customers with low-cost products and generate EBITDA in a challenging, fast paced environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Develop physical trading strategies, both spot and term, to generate positive EBITDA
- Develop trading and blending strategies, initiate and manage physical and financial positions for profit, focus on supply portfolio, manage price exposure for system and trading positions, and proposes relevant risk management and hedging strategies.
- Accountable for optimization of blend hub tank positions and supply for retail system requirements and for book trading positions profit/loss.
- Collaborates with commercial operations to manage physical inventories consistent with supply requirements and financial market structure. Represents the company externally and requires an extensive network of 3rd party contacts.
- Seeks out and identifies commercial opportunities. Embeds optionality to reduce exposure in positions and interprets financial information, integrates information from a variety of sources, detects trends, associations, and cause/effect outcomes.
- Negotiates contracts spot and term deals. Builds relationships, manages third parties and internal relationships, develops contacts and gathers relevant market information.
- Leads strategic plan for blending optimization and works closely with refined products team to determine blend values vs. market values for finished products
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required Education:
- BS degree in Finance/Business/Engineering or other related discipline
- 12+ years of management experience with at least 3 years of industry experience and 2 prior years trading clean products and components, gasoline blending, or other related commercial activities
Required Skills
- Prior trading experience in financial markets (futures, swaps, options, etc.)
- Overall understanding of the global refined products business including supply, trading, logistics and operations
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven negotiation skills
- Demonstrated leadership capability
Preferred Experience
- Gasoline blending experience
- Physical product and component trading experience in U.S. hub markets (USGC, NYH, CHI)
- Experience in commercial operations such as marine and pipeline movements
